1. Heaven

Are you certain you are going to heaven?

2. Reality of Sin

Exams, projects, grades, diplomas... most of university life centers around personal accomplishment.  Heaven and eternal life however, is not an award we earn, such as a scholarship or degree. Eternity with God is not a personal achievment accomplished by meeting some list of standards in life.

The Bible tells us that eternal life in heaven is a gift to be received, not a reward to be earned.

3. Penalty of Sin

Sin comes with a great penalty. The Bible says the payment for sin is death (Romans 6:23).  Not just the ending of life, but a separation from God physically, spiritually, and eternally.

Denial, religion, good works or any other measure to attempt to satisfy God's demand will not help.  We stand in our sin as helpless before God. The penalty of Hell and separation from God is real.

The reality is that we have all sinned.  There is no person who can match the standard of  God's righteousness. From the very first person who ever lived, we have all failed in being righteous.

God does not grade on a curve nor compare us to one another.

Our lives are measured by God's standard- holiness.  The Bible says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

But, is sin serious?

4. The Savior

God hates sin, but God is love.  God loves sinful people.  God loves you; So much so, that that the Father provided a Savior for your sin. God the Son became a man, lived a perfect life, and fulfilled God's standard for righteousness.

Because Jesus died on a cross to pay the penalty for your sins and rose bodily from the dead, you can be reconciled unto God and receive eternal life.

5. Eternal Life

Forgiveness of sin and eternal life is a gift.  It comes from a God of grace.  You cannot do anything to merit this gift. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is the way of salvation. (Acts 16:31) Acknowledge that there is nothing in yourself that can be done to earn His grace or eternal life.  Putting your faith in Jesus Christ, alone is the only way to God. (John 14:6)
